The bed is the center of attention in any bedroom. Choosing this bedroom furniture entails a lot of consideration. Going to furniture stores or even shopping online, you’ll find yourself bombarded with so many different styles of bed. It will probably take you more than just a few hours of looking before you can decide what to buy. The overwhelming selection can make you feel confused and eventually undecided. So before you head out purchasing this essential piece of bedroom furniture, let’s take a short review of the different types of bed that you might possibly encounter.
The platform bed is ideal for people who want a simple sleeping unit. This type of bed has a base that consists of a raised, flat and hard surface that is just meant to support a mattress. With firm cushions on top of supporting solid panels or slats, the need for a box spring is totally eliminated. The firm surface of platform beds can provide a comfortable sleep to anyone who uses them especially for people who suffer from low back pains.
Bunk beds and loft beds are perfect for people who live in tight spaces. They are also ideal choices for kids and teens’ use. A bunk bed is a type of bed wherein one bed frame is stacked on top of another creating two sleeping areas in just one piece of furniture. The loft bed, on the other hand, is similar to a bunk bed but the lower bunk is eliminated to give room to an open space for desks, drawers, chests and so on.
There are also four-poster beds, canopy beds and day beds. Four-poster and canopy beds are great for people who want a luxurious look in their bedroom. As the name suggests, the four-poster bed has tall posts on each corner. The canopy is much like the four-poster bed but with some added cloth or fabric to enclose the bed. The day bed is a stylish choice for people who live in studio-type apartments. This bed can serve as a couch on daytime and a sleeping place at nighttime.
